Do what feels right for you on that day.
Try to practice every day, perhaps even twice a day.
You can use your log in (emailed to you) to access the Meditation Rocks Members area for pre-recorded videos and audios plus more live sessions (via Zoom) at 8am each weekday morning for 15 minutes.
Meditation for me, is about turning my back on the world for a while, so I can get back to feeling more like myself. I have developed a practical technique called Be Right Back, which I will also teach you.
Be Right Back:
Working from Be- Right - Back
or just pausing in whichever sections, feels right for you on that day.
BE - Stubborn mantras (see diagram)
RIGHT - Open monitoring (allowing thoughts)
BACK - your personalised sound to repeat and transcend
Before you get started, you might like to try some of these pre meditation exercises:
Task 1: Exercise to record your thoughts (10-15 min activity)
Task 2: Exercise to capture your enjoyment (10-15 min+ activity)
Use this video to time for 10 minutes to capture your thoughts. Try to focus on the clock going around, but jot down any big thoughts and in particular repeat thoughts you might have in those ten minutes. Please see PDF below.
This exercise is designed to help us to notice how many thoughts we have each minute, even when we are not particularly trying to have any thoughts, or being particularly stimulated.
Please go somewhere you are hopefully not going to be disturbed or too distracted for ten minutes, and when you are ready please start your timer, you can use the video timer above.
In the ten minutes, please jot down any major thoughts you have over the course of each minute. Please feel free to turn over if you need to also use the space on the back.
In the notes section at the end, please make any observations on the following:
- How long ten minutes felt
How many thoughts you had (was it more or less than you thought?
Were there any repeat thoughts?
Any other observations?
Please print out the PDF below (4 pages)
This exercise is designed to help us to be aware of times where we feel under pressure but also times of enjoyment. Please try to think of 1-few examples for each of these pressure points.
