TES reported Oxford academics are offering advice on implementing mindfulness skills in school to help pupil wellbeing in the pandemic, "there has never been a more receptive time for schools to look at the best, evidenced-based ways to support the wellbeing of pupils and staff. As heads, senior leadership teams (SLTs) and school staff look for ways to support their school communities in these challenging times" The case for introducing everyday mindfulness into the classroom has never been stronger. But as the article suggests, it is important to weave it into the timetable regularly, and build enthusiasm and support for the sessions, both from staff and pupils and that's why The School of Meditation Rocks is different, colourful and engaging meditations and mindfulness activities which everyone will love and want to try again and again.
We also offer a membership for secondary school students - this is called the Escape Room. A page full of meditations, wellbeing sheets and blog posts to help with the stresses of being a teenager and going through secondary school. If you are interested in this please get in touch. Our services are tried and tested, see what others have to say about the School of Meditation Rocks.
“We’re using the School of Meditation Rocks because we see a huge benefit in everything that it is going to bring for us. We are passionate about children’s wellbeing here at Combe Down and we feel that meditation really will help us to explore that with children at a deeper level.”
"For me it opened my eyes to what mindfulness and yoga could be within a school environment; so story telling and their favourite songs and how taking some short time to teach and learn breathing techniques could help children with their emotions such as anxiety and anger"
“I’ve always valued what you’ve done, with YOGADOO and the children have always come out so enthusiastic and I’ve seen that with the fact that the children do use it in their lessons. So I thought it would be a really good opportunity to use it and I’m really excited about it.”
"The children loved their first session! Most of them had never tried meditation before but Lucy’s calm and friendly approach made them feel safe. It was lovely to see many of them absorbed in their own inner worlds. They had so many questions and were really keen to try again! We had a lovely calm afternoon after the session which was beneficial for all of us."
"Our Reception children were captivated by Lucy’s mindfulness meditation story about kindness and thinking about how to help other people. Lucy spent time consulting with staff beforehand about the children’s learning and tailored the bespoke package to the day’s topic seamlessly. Lucy took time after the live, to answer the children’s questions and even let them say hi to her puppy Barney, which added to the experience. Having a live session was the perfect compliment to the pre-recorded meditations we are following and the children have commented that they feel calm, happy and relaxed after using mindfulness. Highly Recommended!"
