The Meditation Rocks Foundation is our initiative to weave meditation into schools.
Our founder, Lucy Stone has taught meditation face to face to over 15,000 young people in schools over the past five years. Since launching Meditation Rocks in the lockdown of 2020, she has provided live online meditation sessions and produced creative mindfulness content for thousands more pupils across the UK.
After what has been a disruptive and challenging 12 months for our young people, with education budgets tightening and mental health conditions increasing at an alarming rate, our goal is to teach even more pupils and young people the valuable life skill of mindfulness meditation.
Launching in Mental Health Awareness week this May, The Meditation Rocks Foundation pledges 10% of profits from all corporate Meditation Rocks memberships to give every primary school in the UK access to our creative and engaging mindfulness content completely free of charge from September 2021.
We will also look to fund additional mindfulness and mental health projects for young people.
TES reported Oxford academics are offering advice on implementing mindfulness skills in school to help pupil wellbeing in the pandemic, "there has never been a more receptive time for schools to look at the best, evidenced-based ways to support the wellbeing of pupils and staff. As heads, senior leadership teams (SLTs) and school staff look for ways to support their school communities in these challenging times" The case for introducing everyday mindfulness into the classroom has never been stronger. But as the article suggests, it is important to weave it into the timetable regularly, and build enthusiasm and support for the sessions, both from staff and pupils and that's why The School of Meditation Rocks is different, colourful and engaging meditations and mindfulness activities which everyone will love and want to try again and again.
